There is no telling what is going on at the moment, nor when we will know what’s going on. Liverpool are 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and there is a chance they might not win it this season. However, Liverpool fans will relish a UEFA precedent which could point towards The Reds being handed the title.

The events unfolding in the streets and supermarkets have been heartwarming and soul destroying in equal measure, with each individual having their own anxieties about what is happening.
For those on Merseyside, one of the common anxieties is that Liverpool will be robbed of their first top flight title in 30 years.
There can be no doubting that Liverpool were by far the best team this season, their 25 point lead illustrates that perfectly.
However, with the competition suspended until early April at least there is no telling if or when the league will resume, fans have been debating whether or not Jürgen Klopp’s side should be declared champions.
Thankfully, there is a UEFA precedent which could shed light on what will happen.
In 1999 the Yugoslavian league was suspended with ten games remaining and Partizan Belgrade leading by two points. The Daily Record has pointed out that UEFA intervened and declared the leaders to be champions.
Whilst these are very different circumstances, a war in contrast to a pandemic, there can be some heart taken from recent precedent pointing to Liverpool being crowned champions.
Belgrade’s lead was dangling by a thread, Jürgen Klopp’s lead is emphatic, surely….surely they have to give it to us?
