Liverpool are miles ahead of their rivals in second place. The Reds have opened up a chasm of a gap at the top with Pep Guardiola’s side left licking their wounds. It is no longer a case of if Liverpool will win the Premier League, more a case of when. Manchester City lost to Manchester United today, so when can Liverpool win the league now?

Going into this weekend’s fixtures The Reds needed four wins to guarantee the title.

Sadio Mane and Mo Salah scored against Bournemouth to take Jürgen Klopp’s men to a 2-1 win, leaving them needing just three more wins.

With Manchester City playing three more times between full time at Anfield on Saturday and kick off in the Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park next Monday, Liverpool may have already done enough.

If Pep Guardiola’s men lost all three of their games then that would be the matter done and dusted. Manchester City lost to Manchester United today, meaning that The Reds now need just two more wins to secure the title.

If Liverpool beat Everton next Monday then they can win the league at home against Crystal Palace the following weekend.

This of course relies on Manchester City winning both of their next games. The Citizens take on Arsenal at home in midweek and Burnley at home on Saturday.

Kopites will have a bit of hope that Arsenal could get the better of City given that Mikel Arteta was assistant manager at The Etihad until recently – if there’s any manager in the Premier League with an inside track on Guardiola, it’s the Arsenal boss.
