This summer we are thoroughly expecting at least one forward to arrive at Anfield. Dozens of names have been thrown around but one player seems more nailed on than the rest. Simon Hughes has claimed that we can expect ‘movement’ in the next ‘few weeks’ as Liverpool look to tie up a deal for Timo Werner.

This is a transfer saga that has been dragging on and on and on.

Liverpool have been linked with Timo Werner for months now, with regular updates being provided along the way.

There is no prizes for guessing why The Reds want to bring in the RB Leipzig striker.

The 23-year-old has netted 21 goals in 24 games for the German Bundesliga side this season.

In this time has also registered an impressive seven assists, he’s also netted four goals in six Champions League starts.

The Athletic journalist Simon Hughes recently updated Kopites on the situation, telling the Red Agenda Podcast (51:35):

“He really wants to move to Liverpool. It looks like the next few weeks might see some movement. They’re going to be trying to do things a little quieter. He’s desperate to play for Liverpool.”

What RTK has to say

This is reassuring news from Simon Hughes.

Hearing that Timo Werner is ‘desperate to play for Liverpool’ goes some way to dispelling the rumours linking the striker with a move to Manchester United.

Kopites have become thoroughly invested in his arrival. The German’s goal scoring record is incredibly impressive and at just 24-years-old at the start of next season, he has plenty of time to get even better.

Hopefully there will be more concrete movement in the situation soon.
