This Tuesday evening sees Liverpool take on Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano. The Reds will be hoping to pull off their second victory at the stadium in a year. Jürgen Klopp has shown he is wary of the threat Atletico Madrid pose, describing them as ‘especially difficult’.
The Liverpool squad will be looking forward to Tuesday’s game as they get to relive their Champions League triumph over Spurs last summer.
The hosts have struggled domestically this season and currently find themselves in 4th place with just one win in their last five games.
Despite their domestic woes, Jürgen Klopp has proved he is respectful of Atletico Madrid. The Liverpool ECHO reported the gaffer’s reservations over getting a result when he said:
“I am long enough in football and know it’s possible, but Atletico is one of the teams were it is especially difficult.

“Their goal difference is they have scored only 25 which is not too many, but have conceded only 17, which is low.
“If somebody can play for a result, it’s Atletico. Mr Simeone, who I respect a lot, he tries everything…We have a good relationship but I’m pretty sure he will forget that on the touchline because he is so animated.”
What RTK has to say
The gaffer is spot on with this one, when we drawn against Atletico our first thought was about their defensive acumen.
Simeone has garnered a reputation for shutting teams out over the years and whilst they have lost Diego Godin they are still proving incredibly hard to breakdown, their 17 goals conceded is testament to their miserly approach.
Thankfully we will journey to the Wanda Metropolitano with an equally terrifying defence, if we can nick an away goal we can kill the tie.
