Liverpool are in their strongest position in modern history. The Reds are cruising at the top of the table, they are on course to retain the Champions League and they are in a healthy financial position. Furthermore, there are a number of youngsters breaking through into the first team. A Brazil legend has tipped one academy product for glory with Cafu backing Trent Alexander-Arnold for a Ballon d’Or in the future.
Trent has been a regular fixture in the Liverpool side for the past couple of seasons.
The Scouser in our team has firmly established himself as the best right back in the world, he has also become the youngest player to play in back to back Champions League finals.
With Kopites clamouring for the full back to be moved into his natural centre midfield position, there is no telling what the future may hold for the 21-year-old.
Brazil legend Cafu has some idea, having tipped Alexander-Arnold for the coveted Ballon d’Or prize. He told The Mirror:
“He’s a great player – and I would say he has the same characteristics as I did. He has got big potential.
“I would say he’s got a Brazilian instinct in the way he plays.
“Alexander-Arnold shouldn’t change his way of playing. Even if he makes mistakes, he should carry on doing what he’s doing. I think he has what it takes to become a Ballon d’Or winner”
What RTK has to say
There are few endorsements in the world more valuable to a right back than that of Cafu.
The right back is a legend of the game and Trent will surely be over the moon to hear of the Brazilian’s admiration of his game.
Trent winning a Ballon d’Or from right back would be quite an achievement given that a defender hasn’t won the award since Fabio Cannavaro in 2006.
If the Scouser were to move into midfield he may have more of a chance.
