Liverpool are certain to have a busy summer transfer window: there are a number of players rumoured to be leaving the club and they will need to be replaced, as well as adding some variety to the first team squad. According to Bild in Germany, Liverpool have until April if they want to sign Timo Werner for a cut price £50m.
The Liverpool Timo Werner saga has been dragging on for eternity.
The club have been linked with the German striker for a while due to him being an ideal fit stylistically for the Anfield club.
With 20 goals in 21 German Bundesliga games this season the player has been linked with a lot of Europe’s major clubs.
Now Bild have reported that the German’s release clause expires in April, meaning that RB Leipzig aren’t obliged to let him go for the reduced £50m fee in May.
What RTK has to say
Without his release clause there is no telling how much the young striker may go for.
At 23-years-old he is already scoring at such a prolific rate that there would likely be an auction for his services which would push his price tag beyond what Michael Edwards would be prepared to pay.
If it was our decision we would sign him up yesterday. Werner has the potential to be one of the greatest strikers of his generation if given the right guidance, to miss out on him now could be one of our worst mistakes going forward.
He would add depth, variety and versatility to the Liverpool front line – signing Werner is a must.
