Liverpool signing Timo Werner would rekindle Naby Keita partnership

This summer we can expect to see Liverpool spend some money, they may not go all out for a megabucks move but they will undoubtedly make a few additions to the squad – if only to replace some outgoing stars. If Liverpool end up buying Timo Werner they would be able to rekindle his deadly partnership with Naby Keita.

Liverpool have been linked with Timo Werner for what feels like eternity.

The Daily Mail recently reported that The Reds can clinch the German if they pay his £51m release clause in the summer.

The 23-year-old has been in deadly form in the German Bundesliga this season, he’s netted 20 goals in 21 appearances thus far with six assists along the way.

If Liverpool were to bring in Timo Werner they would have the advantage of rekindling his partnership with Naby Keita.

Werner and Keita joined RB Leipzig in June 2016.

The pair quickly struck up a telepathic understanding that proved a nightmare for defences.

Raphinha, Coutinho and Tielemans: The signings Liverpool could make this summer

A compilation of their time together has been doing the rounds on Twitter with Kopites drooling at the prospect of seeing them together at Anfield.

The fact that the duo clearly have a defence splitting knowledge of each other’s game makes Werner’s rumoured arrival even more enticing for Liverpool.

This is further to the fact that he is already playing a brand of football similar to that which The Reds play.

For Leipzig he is playing in a high pressing system that is direct on the counter, he also has pace to burn and the versatility to play off the left wing if needed; add all this to his history with Keita and signing the German striker appears to be a no brainer.
