Recent seasons have proved that the grass isn’t always greener when you leave Anfield. Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho both forced moves away when The Reds were on the precipice of glory, both players have seen their careers take a turn for the worse as a result. Following a loan move back to the German Bundesliga, Emre Can has gotten off to a flyer with a wonder goal for Borussia Dortmund.

Things took a pretty disastrous turn for Emre when he left Liverpool.

The midfielder joined Juventus on a free transfer shortly after Jürgen Klopp’s side lost the Champions League final in Kiev in 2018.

Many Kopites have resented the German for his running down of his contract, robbing Liverpool of the chance to make any money from his departure despite the amount of time and cash the club invested in his development.

Emre enjoyed a decent start in Italy but has since seen his playing time dwindle under Maurizio Sarri, his situation reached a nadir when he was left out of the Champions League squad at the start of the season.

The ex-Red secured a loan move to Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window with the Germans having the option to buy the midfielder for €25m.

Emre Can has scored a wonder goal on his Borussia Dortmund debut, indicating that his career may finally be back on track.

During the 4-3 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, the on loan box to box man curled one in to the top corner from distance.

Although the manner in which Emre left the club still leaves a bad taste, it’s nice to see that the young man is heading in the right direction.

Let’s be honest, we’re doing too well at the minute to be worrying ourselves with holding grudges.
