When will they ever learn? Over the years we have seen a number of players force a move out of Liverpool, wanting to go on to bigger and better things. Since the turn of the century we have seen Michael Owen, Philippe Coutinho, Luis Suarez and Emre Can all push through transfers in a bid to win the Champions League, only to watch on as the Reds lift the trophy in their absence. Emre Can has opened up on his frustrations at Juventus, confirming what Liverpool fans already knew.
Speaking to German outlet Kicker, Can said:
“I’m not playing games from the start, so I’m not happy…but I’m also learning from this tough time when things are not going the way I was hoping.”
What RTK has to say
Well, well, well. If it isn’t the consequences of your own actions Mr.Can.
After the 2018 Champions League final, the German midfielder left Anfield for Juventus on a free. In his first season he was a regular, however he did have to watch his former club lift the Champions League after he was knocked out by Ajax.
This season he has found himself frozen out by Maurizio Sarri, he has started just one game in Serie A and was left out of the Juventus Champions League squad.
Emre Can has proved with his comments what Liverpool fans already knew: leaving Anfield for better things very rarely works out, the grass isn’t always greener.
The manner in which the German exited left a bitter taste, to leave on a free after having so much invested in your development was a massive snub to the Reds. Hopefully in future other players will learn from his failures.
