This weekend saw Liverpool extend their lead at the top of the table to a ridiculous 22 points. The Reds battered Southampton 4-0 and Manchester City fell to a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur. One stat to come out of the weekend highlighted the gulf between Liverpool and Everton at the minute.
This campaign has seen Liverpool smashing records left and right.
They have set a record for points after 20 games, they have beaten every single team in the division and they are on course for the earliest title win in history.
Everton on the other hand have had to change managers after relegation became a real possibility, a 5-2 thrashing at the hands of their local rivals in December was one of the weightiest nails in Marco Silva’s coffin.
Carlo Ancelotti has helped steady the ship at Goodison Park, dragging them up to ninth place whilst it gets interesting towards the bottom.
90Min writer Andrew Headspeath pointed out that the 73 points Liverpool have racked up so far is more than Everton have ever managed in a Premier League season.
Liverpool’s points total of 73 is now higher than Everton have ever managed in an entire Premier League season.
It’s February 2nd.

What RTK has to say
Jürgen’s Reds mate.
Whilst these fun comparisons are going to keep popping up as the procession continues, this is perhaps our favourite stat yet.
These Reds are absolutely indomitable and it’s even more enjoyable when their greatness casts such a dark shadow over their neighbours across Stanley Park.
Sure, The Ev are improving under Carlo Ancelotti, but if they want to make up the gap between the two sides any time soon then they’d need a miracle – it’s only February and we’ve already beaten their best ever total.
