The Reds were extraordinary once again this weekend. Jürgen Klopp’s side strolled to a 4-0 win over Southampton at Anfield. The BBC have been drooling over the three Liverpool players in their Team of the Week.
It was a convincing win for The Reds on Saturday but the scoreline was undoubtedly harsh on Southampton.
The visiting Saints threatened the Liverpool goal on a number of occasions and were unlucky to not have had a penalty awarded.
However, the Southampton penalty is a moot point given that the visitors’ should have had a man sent off and a penalty conceded in the first half when Roberto Firmino was bundled to the floor as he looked to nod in on the goal line.
Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah were the three Liverpool players selected in the BBC Team of the Week.
Garth Crooks hailed the skipper, saying: “Henderson is in such blistering form I think he’s capable of anything at the moment.”
According to Crooks, Mo Salah “has got that golden scoring touch back”, whilst Roberto Firmino “played half [the] game as though the ball was stuck to his feet.”
What RTK has to say
The Reds put in one of their finest performances since Boxing Day when they thrashed Southampton on Saturday.
Sadly, the best goal they scored was flagged for offside.
Although the entire team put in a shift, Hendo and his two forwards were out of this world.
The confidence that the skipper is showing at the moment is key to his performances, would he have tried that first time pass to Salah a couple of years ago?
If these Reds can keep this level of performance up then they are nailed on for the earliest title win in history.
