Liverpool have become utterly unbeatable this season. In the last two years we have seen Michael Edwards resolve the last few issues that were keeping The Reds from being the team they are today – buying a goalkeeper was one of his priorities. One of our failed shot stoppers looks to be on the move: according to reports in Turkey, Loris Karius has instructed his agent to find him a new club.
The Reds signed Karius for £4.7m in 2016.
The German keeper arrived from Mainz with Kopites hopeful that he could be the man to finally resolve our problems in goal.
Since the departure of Pepe Reina in 2013 The Reds had been without a world class keeper to steady the defence.
Things didn’t work out with Karius, the German proved to be error prone and his two howling errors in the 2018 Champions League final essentially cost Liverpool the game.
After Alisson Becker arrived at Anfield in the summer, shortly after the Kiev disappointment, Karius was shipped off on loan to Turkey but his stay at Besiktas has also been riddled with errors – he has shipped 11 goals in his last six games.
Turkish Football have reported that Loris Karius has instructed his agent to find him a new club after he was booed by his own fans during a 3-2 cup defeat.
What RTK has to say
We really hope that Karius finds a home soon.
Perhaps a move back to the German Bundesliga would be the ideal scenario for the keeper.
His confidence has obviously taken a battering in the last few years, a move back home could help settle his nerves.
We wish him the best, he is a talented goalkeeper but unfortunately his confidence has gotten in the way of his development. In goalkeeping years he is still young, he is 26-years-old and keepers don’t peak until their early 30s.
