The last couple of seasons have served as a warning to any player that wants to use Anfield as a stepping stone. Emre Can and Philippe Coutinho made the bold choice to pursue success elsewhere, only to see The Reds lift Europe’s top prize shortly after. According to a report by The Mirror, Everton are lining up a move to bring Emre Can back to Liverpool.
Emre left Anfield on a free transfer at the end of the 2017/18 season, joining Serie A giants Juventus.
The departure left a bitter taste for Kopites, whilst he wasn’t a fan favourite or anything of the like, we invested a lot of money in his development and he ran down his contract to force a free move.
Since joining the Turin side, Emre has seen his playing time dwindle. There were questions about the German’s future at the start of the season after he was left out of the club’s Champions League squad.
Recent reports saw both Can and Manchester United rule out a move to Old Trafford but according to The Mirror he could still be set for a Premier League return. According to the paper, Everton are pursuing a £30m move for Emre Can.
What RTK has to say
Emre would waltz into The Ev’s midfield. He would be by far their most talented midfield man, his dynamism and versatility would be a great asset.
At the minute, Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield aren’t aggressive enough or creative enough – the fact that Liverpool’s kids were able to bully them off the park speaks volumes.
We wouldn’t have a problem with Emre joining The Toffees – they aren’t going to be anywhere near competing with us any time soon and it would be a shame to see them relegated. Hopefully the German can keep them up for a couple of years.
