This weekend saw Manchester City drop even more points. Can’t relate. Pep Guardiola’s side were held to a 2-2 draw by Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace. The Reds now need just 11 more wins to guarantee the league, 11 games from now they travel to Man City. Liverpool won’t win the league at the Etihad because City will drop more points.
So this is a figure that has been doing the rounds on Twitter. 11 more wins and The Reds have won it.
Sure – we haven’t fact checked this – but we trust you Kopites out there.
Regardless, 11 wins will likely be more than enough as this figure is reliant on Manchester City not dropping anymore points. They’ll definitely drop more points.
Between now and us taking on The Blues at The Etihad, Guardiola’s side have to take on Spurs and Leicester City away in February and Manchester United and Chelsea away in February. To think they’ll win all of these games would be naive.
So – where will Liverpool win the league? Well, that depends how poorly City perform in the next couple of months.
Our game before City away is Crystal Palace at home. We could win it at Anfield.
Our game before Palace at home is Everton away. We could win at Goodison.
Our game before Everton away is Bournemouth at home. We could win it at Anfield.
One thing is nearly for certain, we’re winning the league in Liverpool. One more loss for City and we’ll bag it at Anfield, ideal for a party and catharsis after all these years.
More than just a loss for City and we’ll get it at Goodison Park, that is just delectable. Given that we pretty much lost the league at Goodison Park last season, that would be our vindication.
Liverpool may not win the league at The Etihad but they will win it in Liverpool, in our book that’s a lot better.
