The Reds are absolutely massive aren’t they? How massive you ask – well, they’re that massive that they may be getting a manager sacked eight months after beating him. According to a report in The Daily Mail, Ernesto Valverde may be getting sacked by Barcelona in the coming days and Liverpool are being cited as one of the reasons.
This is quite an extraordinary scenario. Barcelona are tied top of the Spanish La Liga at the moment, level on 40 points with Real Madrid.
But Barca are a side that demand success on all fronts, a club where European success is imperative. A tentative grasp on top spot in La Liga may not be enough for Ernesto Valverde to keep his job at Barcelona.
The pressure has been ramped up on the coach after his side forfeited a 2-1 lead against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup last Thursday.
What RTK has to say
If Ernesto Valverde gets sacked by Barcelona because they can’t forgive him for the Liverpool result then that is just delightful.
For years we have contended with the Catalan giants unsettling and poaching our best players – they pillaged us of Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez in recent seasons. Now we have embarrassed them to the extent that they are considering sacking their manager because they just can’t shake their humiliation at Anfield.
The question is – who is the next manager we get sacked? Another season of domestic domination could turn up the pressure on Pep Guardiola…
