There are few players out there that have left Liverpool and gone on to better things. Many have forced a move out and seen there careers go down the pan as a result: Michael Owen, Philippe Coutinho and Emre Can are just a handful of unfortunates that have gotten too big for their boots. Of course, Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling have had success after Anfield. There is one player we should look at bringing back – Liverpool should consider re-signing Suso from AC Milan.
Suso joined Liverpool on loan from Cadiz as a teenager – he joined on loan as he wasn’t old enough to sign a permanent contract with the Reds until his 17th birthday.
The Spaniard was highly thought of in the academy but he never managed to fully assert himself in the first team, he was eventually sold by Brendan Rodgers in 2015, joining AC Milan at 21-years-old.
Since moving to the Italian giants he has gone from strength to strength. The versatile Spaniard managed seven Man of the Match awards last season, notching seven goals and ten assists.
Liverpool re-signing Suso makes a lot of sense for two reasons: his determination and his versatility.
Jürgen Klopp only signs players hungry to prove themselves, hungry to improve. Given that the Reds are now the best side in the world, Suso would of course be tempted by the move and given that he failed to make an impression during his first spell at Anfield he will be determined to right the wrongs of the past.
Suso’s versatility is perhaps the most enticing part of any potential move. The Spaniard can cover either wing or play as an attacking midfielder. We need cover across the front line, Liverpool re-signing Suso would cover a number of positions.
