Jürgen Klopp has insisted that Liverpool are always ready in the transfer market – if there is good business to be done then best believe we’ll do it. The Reds already have Takumi Minamino arriving in January, reports in Spain have suggested that there may be another arrival, El Desmarque have claimed that Liverpool have “secured an agreement” with Diego Carlos of Sevilla.

The Spanish outlet have reported that the Reds have agreed personal terms with the Brazilian centre back with a view to paying his £64m release clause. However, the report does state that they may well wait until the summer before stumping up the cash.
Carlos has been immovable from the centre of a Sevilla defence that have conceded less than a goal per game, starting every match in La Liga – scoring twice.
El Desmarque have stated that the Reds would be looking to bring Carlos in to partner Virgil van Dijk in the Liverpool defence.
What RTK has to say
Liverpool signing Diego Carlos for this sort of money doesn’t seem to make sense, signing him to partner Virgil makes even less sense.
The Reds have an embarrassment of talented centre backs – sure, Dejan Lovren may move on at the end of the season but would we really pay £64m to replace our 3rd or 4th choice centre back?
If we were to sign Carlos to partner Virgil van Dijk then we couldn’t expect Joe Gomez to hang around too much longer, the Englishman has shown that he has the talent to start in most defences in the world – we can’t ask him to wait five years or so to become our first choice.
Liverpool signing Diego Carlos just doesn’t make any sense to us I’m afraid.
