The Reds completed an unprecedented treble this week, becoming the first English side to win the Champions League, the Super Cup and the Club World Cup in the same year. There were some scrapes and tough games along the way but the side’s never say die attitude pulled them through. Alisson Becker boasts an incredible clean sheet stat from these key ties which demonstrates why he is the best in the world.
Data analyst Dan Kennett tweeted that in five games where the Reds were either in a final or faced elimination, Alisson saved all 26 opposition shots on target, including six big chances.
The games in question are Flamengo in the Club World Cup final, Spurs in the Champions League final, Red Bull Salzburg away in the European groups, Napoli at home in a decisive group tie and Barcelona at home in the Champions League semis.

Opposition fans often point to the talents of Virgil van Dijk et al when arguing that Ali hasn’t warranted the mountains of individual awards he has received in the last year.
However, this stat shows that the Brazilian shows up when it matters – in big games. Who can forget his denial of Arkadiusz Milik when we were hanging on against Napoli? We are lucky to have Alisson Becker and long may he reign.
