One of the key reasons that Liverpool have been so successful in the last couple of seasons is the unity of the squad. The squad is unified in that they’d do anything for each other but they also seem to respect and trust Jürgen Klopp implicitly – this has been reaffirmed by a report which has claimed that Xherdan Shaqiri has rejected a loan move to Galatasaray.

The Reds signed Shaqiri from Stoke in 2018, paying the Potters £13m for his services. He appeared to be a bargain when we bought him and that has proved to be the case. He arrived for a paltry fee and has pulled out some impressive performances in key games. Kopites will never forget his role in the 4-0 thrashing of Barcelona, nor his double against Manchester United.
According to Turkish outlet Sozcu (translated by Sport Witness) the Turkish giants launched a move to take the Swiss on a temporary basis. However, despite his little game time this season, the ex-Stoke man rejected the move.
What RTK has to say
The fact that Xherdan Shaqiri rejected this reported loan move to Galatasaray speaks volumes about his character as well as the character of Jürgen Klopp.
Many players with his reputation, record and the few minutes he has played this season may have sought to force a move away to get more game time – however, the winger clearly has a lot of respect for the gaffer and belief in the squad as a whole.
We have seen the Swiss international performing well when he has stepped into the side in recent weeks – he put in a superb display in the Merseyside Derby, netting the Reds’ second goal.
