According to Bild (via The Express), Manchester United are showing more interest in the young midfielder than the Reds. Liverpool have been linked with the dynamic middleman for months and many have earmarked him as a marquee signing for Jürgen Klopp.

However, this report has suggested that the gaffer may miss out on the 20-year-old due to the determined pursuit of the Red Devils.

What RTK has to say

Hey, you win some – you lose some. If Liverpool don’t sign Kai Havertz it won’t be the end of the world by any means. The wonderkid would cost an enormous amount – Bild suggested a fee over €90m for the midfielder.

Losing out to our Lancashire rivals would certainly sting and it would be difficult to watch him performing well for United given that our interest was well documented. However, it is doubtful that the German would be able to single handedly drag the Manchester side back into competition with Liverpool.

We must also consider that Jürgen Klopp looks to have already recruited another attacking midfielder, with reports of an imminent move for Takumi Minamino gathering pace.

If we manage to sign the RB Salzburg star then it wouldn’t make much sense to splash out on Kai Havertz too. Whatever happens, we can trust the judgement of our recruitment team.
