On Tuesday night there was a lot to celebrate for Kopites. Liverpool progressed to the last 16 in impressive fashion, topping the group with a 2-0 win over Red Bull Salzburg. The Reds kept a clean sheet in the game – an incredible feat given the hosts’ record this season. One of the biggest causes for celebration was the performance of our returning midfield star; Naby Keita will soon be undroppable if he continues his current form.
Right – some of you may think this is a premature shout, that’s understandable. We must stress that we believe Naby Keita will be undroppable if he continues his current form – that’s a big if.
The Guinean was a club record saying when Liverpool paid RB Leipzig a reported £52.75m for the midfielder. The ex-Bundesliga man is now showing the form that we bought him for.
In our last two games Keita has been a stand out performer. Against Bournemouth we saw the Guinean score and assist. Against Salzburg, Keita was dangerous every time got the ball; he was always looking forward, he moved it on quickly, he beat his man and most importantly – he scored.
Since his arrival in 2018 Kopites have been biting their nails wondering when, if ever, Naby Keita would live up to his hype. A series of injuries have kept the midfielder from ever getting a run of games in the side. In back to back matches we have seen that he can deliver on his club record fee.

Naby Keita is undroppable in his current form, he is precisely what our midfield needs. He can pick up the ball in any area of the pitch and drive forward with it. Crucially, he uses the ball quickly, we often see our midfield stagnant – Naby always quickens the pace. He will prove invaluable in the near future.
