The player’s representative baselessly accused Liverpool of “mentally bullying and destroying the life” of Bobby Duncan. It was utterly incredible.
The fallout was spectacular, Kopites from around the world piled in on Saif Rubie, letting him know exactly how they felt about his comments.
Reds fans hated Rubie not just because he was insulting the club but because he was blatantly exploiting a young man to satisfy his own greed and vanity. His comments trivialised mental health issues and were utterly abhorrent, the manner in which he conducted himself will not be forgotten for some time – there were comparisons drawn to the agent of Raheem Sterling.
Respected Liverpool journalist James Pearce today confirmed that Saif Rubie has been banned by the FA for six weeks and fined £10,000 for his Twitter tirade. Kopites have been celebrating the verdict.

One supporter pointed out that the move didn’t even work out as intended.
I see Bobby Duncan’s agent Saif Rubie has been banned for 6 weeks by The FA for offensive tweets back in the Summer about Liverpool not allowing him to Fiorentina.
Still, at least he’s managed to get his client lots of first team footba… Oh. pic.twitter.com/HU4I1qSaKh

This fan believes that Saif Rubie is emblematic of a much larger problem.
He is the classic face of the murky greedy underworld of football agent leeches.

One Kopite channeled his inner Omar from The Wire. Loving the reference.

But of course, it is important to remember that Saif Rubie let down Bobby Duncan by acting entirely in his own interest.
The saddest part of all of this is that the only person who has benefitted from the whole Bobby Duncan saga is Saif Rubie
