Tuesday evening sees Liverpool visit RB Salzburg for the teams’ final Champions League group stage game. Jürgen Klopp’s men missed their chance to guarantee top spot in advance of the game when they failed to beat Napoli in November. A draw would be enough to see the Reds through, a win would secure first place. We look at three RB Salzburg players that Liverpool have to stop.
Erling Håland – Striker
There are no words for this boy. At just 19-years-old the Norwegian forward has 16 goals in 11 Austrian Bundesliga starts this season. In all competitions his record this campaign is a phenomenal 41 goals in 27 games. The forward is a phenomenon and is being courted by Europe’s top clubs.
Håland netted shortly after coming on at Anfield in October, he will be crucial to their chances on Tuesday night, we will need Virgil van Dijk at his brilliant best.
Hwang Hee-Chan – Wide forward
Jesse Marsch’s South Korean winger was a nightmare to handle when the two sides clashed at Anfield. Hwang Hee-Chan netted the Austrian’s first goal of the evening when he cut inside Virgil van Dijk and fired past Adrian at the Kop end.
He is fast, tricky and a devastating finisher. Hee-Chan is just 23-years-old and likely to be linked with a step up over the summer thanks to his European displays.
Takumi Minamino – Attacking midfield
Another player that was incredibly effective when the Austrian champions visited Anfield. Minamino finished well to score the second Salzburg goal against Liverpool in October.
The Japanese midfielder has five goals in 11 starts in the league this season. Jordan Henderson will have a task on his hands keeping the electric Minamino quiet throughout the game.
