Liverpool target Erling Haaland is one of the most wanted men in world football.

The 19-year-old Red Bull Salzburg striker’s prolific form has attracted interest from Europe’s elite clubs.

Now seemingly destined to lose the Norwegian wonder-kid, the Austrian side have named their price. According to Tuttosport RB Salzburg are looking for a fee in the region of £86m.

The young star has been in magnificent form this season, scoring 23 goals in just 17 games.

Haaland’s exploits in the Champions League have been particularly impressive. His seven goals in just four games is two more than any other player in history.

He is just the fourth player in Champions League history to score in each of his first four appearances, joining Ze Carlos, Alessandro Del Piero and Diego Costa in achieving the feat.

Liverpool’s interest in Haaland was revealed by Italian site Calciomercato.  However, the Reds will face a fight to acquire his services, with the Guardian reporting as many as 20 clubs are currently tracking the RB Salzburg striker.

By setting such an astronomical price tag, the Austrian champions are likely to have whittled down the interested parties somewhat.

Liverpool should be in the market for a striker, especially one as talented as Haaland. The Reds front three is one of the world’s best but has no clear recognised striker.

Roberto Firmino is the man who occupies the position but what he offer’s the team is not what you would expect from a traditional front man.

His ability to link play is second to none but he could potentially drop back from the front and be just as effective. Maybe even more so with a goal-scorer such as Haaland in front of him.
