Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp showed huge faith in his squad players against Everton.
The 52-year-old rested several key players in one of the biggest games of the season.
Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson all started on the bench at Anfield. However, the Reds didn’t miss them, running out 5-2 winners against the beleaguered Blues.
Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri, Adam Lallana came into the whilst James Milner filled in for the absent Fabinho. All four of them performed admirably. Origi continued his fine form in Merseyside derby’s. The Belgian netted two goals in the first half to take his tally against Everton to five goals.
Shaqiri also got in the goals, latching on to a perfectly weighted Mane pass to tap home past Jordan Pickford. Whilst Lallana and Milner played with a great intensity allowing us to win the midfield battle.
As talented as these players are selecting them against Everton could have been viewed as a sign of disrespect. This of course wasn’t the case and Klopp actually just showed huge faith in his fringe players who repaid him big time.
Such a performance will ease fans concerns about the upcoming busy period. Liverpool have shown ourselves capable of beating a good side despite be under strength. All whilst keeping players outside the first team happy, motivated and determined to perform in a Reds shirt.
Last nights game against Everton really couldn’t have gone better. If we can just keep a clean sheet some time soon it’ll all be perfect heading into 2020.
