Liverpool head into the Merseyside derby in fine form in the Premier League.
The Reds are also currently riding a long unbeaten run at Anfield.
Everton on the other hand appear in free fall and boss Marco Silva is hanging by a thread.
Despite their poor form the Toffee’s should never be underestimated on derby day
The season is already lost for Everton who had hoped to be challenging the top six this year. However, it could well be relegation scrap if the Blues don’t shape up quickly.
What better occasion than a Merseyside derby to get back on track. The mid-week trip to Anfield is undoubtedly the biggest game of Everton’s season and they’ll surely be up for it.
As with all derby days form goes out the window for this one. Everton fans would rather be relegated than see Liverpool win the league. The bitter Blues will take great pleasure in putting a dent in our title hopes.
The fans will demand a performance, despite being away from home the travelling Everton faithful will be noisy. Any lack of heart, desire or running will be jeered by fans who are simply fed up with watching poor performances.
Wednesday’s clash also holds added weight due to the perilous position of Marco Silva. The Everton boss appears to be on the verge of the sack and a bad result against Liverpool could well be the final nail in the coffin.
The 45-year-old Portuguese manager could well earn a stay of execution with a good performance from his team. He’ll be sure to have his team up for the derby and Liverpool must not underestimate Everton or risk an embarrassing upset.
