Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday and the win over Spurs extended a wonderful record.
The Reds started about as badly as you can. Jordan Henderson gave the ball away in midfield, Gini Wijnaldum and Fabinho missed tackles, and Moussa Sissoko got the ball out to Son Heung-Min.

Son shot, the ball clattered off Dejan Lovren, then the post, and Harry Kane put it in. And that was in just 47 seconds.
So Liverpool had to fix things but struggled to in the first half. The second proved more fruitful, however, as Henderson and Mohamed Salah each score to turn the result around.

And while much has been made of it being Liverpool’s 45th Anfield match without defeat, that isn’t the only noteworthy statistic.
That’s now ten consecutive times that Liverpool have avoided defeat after conceding first at home.
It’s a remarkable record and one that shows the enormous shift in mentality under Jurgen Klopp. Every fans can remember the fragility of previous sides, fully capable of conceding several after that first goes in.

Instead, even starting well against Liverpool counts for little. It’s not like Liverpool’s record is simply about blowing teams away but is instead about resilience.
This is a Liverpool team that doesn’t lose at Anfield and Spurs were simply the latest team to learn that fact.
