Liverpool not happy with any performance says Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold doesn’t believe Liverpool have been happy with a single performance this season.

“Yeah, we are nowhere near 100 per cent,” Alexander-Arnold told the Daily Mail. “I am not sure we have had a game yet where we have been happy with our performance. The City game was excellent but even then we were disappointed that we conceded.”

What RTK has to say

It goes to show the incredible, and necessary, standards at Liverpool. The Reds sit at the top of the Premier League having dropped just two points from a possible 42. It’s the greatest start in their history – and yet it could have been more.

Those dropped points – away at Manchester United – were disappointing. Even many won games have been disappointing – be it needing a goalkeeping error to beat Sheffield United or scraping a win over Brighton.

It’s slightly ridiculous, really, that a team can approach half-way with a near-perfect record and wonder ‘what if?’. That’s where Liverpool are, however – they really could be more dominant.

And the fact that the team recognise it is quite remarkable. How easy would it be to look at this campaign and relax with your eight-point lead?

But then, after last season, everyone at Liverpool knows how necessary this attitude it is. 97 points weren’t enough to win the Premier League and there will be no room for complacency.

There’s is clearly more to come at Anfield, though. Alexander-Arnold says the team isn’t happy with a single performance and so we know there’s more to come.

It backs up what we’re watching. This is a Liverpool side that is so good it can dominate the league without being at their best. Find that extra level – as Alexander-Arnold knows is there – and the Reds will win the Premier League. Comfortably.
