‘Tis the season to be linked with just about any prolific goal scorer on the continent. With the January transfer window looming, transfer rumours are building. The latest reports, in the Sunday Express, suggest that Liverpool are battling Tottenham Hotspur to sign Memphis Depay.
What ensued was a disappointing couple of seasons at Old Trafford, the Dutchman scored just seven times in 53 appearances. He was then sold to Olympique Lyonnais in France.
The 25-year-old has hit his best form in Ligue 1. He has hit seven goals in nine starts in the league and four goals in four in the Champions League.

Liverpool signing Memphis Depay would be delectable. To take the Dutchman that gave United so little when he cost so much would be very satisfying for Kopites, if he lived up to expectation at Anfield that is.
His current form suggests that when does eventually move back to the Premier League he will have a much better time than he did at Old Trafford.
However, whether or not the Reds will be drawn into a bidding war remains to be seen. In recent seasons we have avoided competing with other sides for our signings, instead conducting our business efficiently and under the radar.
These links do seem like a long shot but we could definitely do with some reinforcements up top. If Liverpool sign Memphis Depay they would be adding depth to the front three as well as giving Jürgen Klopp the option of a pacy number nine for when Roberto Firmino’s deep lying wizardry isn’t working.
