This week saw Ajax take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The thrilling encounter ended all square at 4-4, with the Dutch side having two men sent off at once. Despite the visitors having both centre backs dismissed, Chelsea failed to win at home on Tuesday. Their task was made harder by the fact that they were already 4-2 down when the men were sent off.

Quincy Promes was impressive throughout the game and tucked in a smart header after an inch perfect Hakim Ziyech cross. The Dutchman’s pace and dribbling ability made him a nightmare for Blues defenders.

After the game, the Ajax winger told Goal: “To me, if I have a chance, maybe in the future.”

What RTK has to say

If Liverpool sign Quincy Promes it could cost us a pretty penny. Premier League sides typically have to pay a premium as European teams are aware of the vast wealth in English football, we have to add to that the recent Champions League win and forthcoming Nike kit deal.

The Dutchman only signed for Ajax at the start of this season when the Eredivisie champions paid Sevilla £15.4m for his services.

The new signing is impressing already in the Netherlands, netting eight times in ten starts in the league. If Liverpool sign Promes, he would add goalscoring depth to the Reds attack – something that Jürgen Klopp is desperate for. If forced to choose between him and Kylian Mbappe, the Dutchman could be the more the sensible choice financially.
