Miracles happen at Anfield. Wednesday night was not quite a miracle, more of a rollercoaster. Liverpool beat Arsenal despite being two goals behind the visitors twice during the game. The Reds opened the scoring thanks to a Gunners own goal, Unai Emery’s side were 3-1 and 4-2 up at points during the game. After 90 minutes the game was 5-5 thanks to a customary last minute Divock Origi goal. The way the Reds celebrated their fifth goal is evidence of just how special this club is.

Origi has made a habit of scoring big goals at important times. The Belgian scored winners against Everton and Newcastle, he bagged a brace in the Barcelona come back and he killed the game in Madrid by firing in Liverpool’s second goal.

Against Arsenal, the big Belgian came up with the goods again. Divvy netted our fourth and fifth goals of the game. In the 62nd minute Curtis Jones broke through the midfield and poked a ball into Origi’s feet, the striker pivoted on his first touch and fired through the hands of the Arsenal keeper.

After going a goal behind, the second Divock Origi goal came in the 94th minute. Neco Williams clipped a ball into the box and the Champions League hero scissor kicked it towards the bottom corner to equalise. Despite the technique shown and the importance of the goal, nobody celebrated with Origi, this was because the Belgian got up off the floor and directed the Reds to the young right back.

The team ran over to Williams. The debutant had had a tough game up until that point, it had been a baptism of fire. However, when it mattered he delivered the cross that kept us in the tie which we went on to win. The fact that Origi insisted the team ran to him and celebrated shows how together this squad is, we know how important these moments are for young lads and how impressive it was for him to pull off that cross when it mattered. It doesn’t matter who scores, we are a team. The Divock Origi goal celebration was a heartwarming sight.
