Tottenham goal could catapult Jordan Henderson like it did last year

Jordan Henderson got a vital goal against Tottenham Hotspur in a 2-1 win and hopefully, it will kick-start his season.

Spurs’ opener was his fault, though. Henderson cheaply gave the ball away in the middle of the pitch, allowing Moussa Sissoko to drive forward with the ball.

But things changed before half-time as Jurgen Klopp moved his captain to the right. It’s a position that Henderson hasn’t really played for a long time but Klopp clearly saw something.

And Henderson proved him right as he popped up to score after 52 minutes. It was his first goal since he bagged against Southampton last year – and that’s important.

Henderson hasn’t started this season well, much like the last campaign. Above all, he’s looked quite lost in things, unable to balance attack with defence in the box-to-box role.

Everything changed for Henderson last year after that goal against the Saints, though. He was transformed in his role, no longer a holding player but one who could influence things going forward.

The Liverpool captain thrived and became a key player over the last half of the season. Now, after Henderson scored against Tottenham, we have to hope he’ll kick on once again.

This should be a reminder of what he can do in attacking areas. He can score, he can create, and he can be devastating with his pressing.

While Henderson hadn’t brought any of that before the win over Spurs, this goal could put him back on track once again.
