Sadio Mane says he wants to retire at Liverpool, says it's like a "family"

Somehow, Sadio Mane is still a rising star. He has already reached the top echelon of player in the game, having made the 30 man Ballon d’Or shortlist for 2019, however, he just keeps getting better. Some players have already made his case for being the best player in the world. The Senegalese winger has been coveted by the world’s biggest sides, with Real Madrid one of the sides constantly linked. Thankfully for Kopites, Sadio Mane has said he wants to stay at Liverpool until he retires.

The Reds signed Mane from Southampton for £34m in 2016. He is now valued at £108m by Transfermarkt. Since then he has become a fan favourite at Anfield thanks to his dribbling ability, lightning pace and deadly finishing ability (which is constantly improving). His form at Liverpool has caught the eye of Real Madrid, with Marca one of a number of outlets to report their interest.

Sadio Mane told Norwegian outlet TV2, he wants to stay at Liverpool “forever”. The winger said, “I’ve been at a few clubs in the world but Liverpool is unique”. He’s not wrong, how many teams do you know that can overturn a 3-0 defeat to Barcelona?

True to Jürgen Klopp’s words about the closeness of the squad, the forward told the media, “I think here it is a little bit like family, the mood is always incredible”.

Squad unity has been key to the Reds terrific form in recent seasons, Klopp has put together a side that would die for each other on the pitch and that attitude is necessary for his pressing philosophy. Thankfully this squad unity will continue for years to come with players like Sadio Mane committing their long term futures to Liverpool.
