Sunday sees the visit of Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield. It will be the first time that the sides have faced each other since Liverpool broke Spurs hearts in Madrid in June. The Reds are currently 13 points ahead of the side that they defeated in the Champions League final last season. Mauricio Pochettino has struggled to get things going at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this campaign and Jürgen Klopp will be looking to pile on the misery. We take a look at three Spurs players Liverpool will have to stop on Sunday.
Harry Kane
Spurs’ talismanic striker is a big task for any defender, thankfully we have the best of the best in Virgil van Dijk. Kane is the focal point for Tottenham’s attacking play, he is good in the air and is a lethal finisher – he can’t be afforded a yard. He won’t have any chance of beating Van Dijk for pace or strength so we can expect him to be taking shots from distance.
Heung Min Son
The only player in the Premier League at the moment that just belongs in a Liverpool shirt. The South Korean forward is industrious, skilful, unselfish and deadly on the break – he’s also very smiley. Just picture the hug him and Klopp could have. His lightning pace will be something the Reds defence will have to be wary of. Fingers crossed we batter Spurs and Jürgen taps him up after the game.
Christian Eriksen
The Lilywhites’ Danish playmaker is destined for Real Madrid at the end of the season, barring an extraordinary turnaround in his contract situation. He was very nearly a Liverpool player before Spurs paid him much more than we were offering. He lays on goals, he scores goals and he is deadly from set plays. Fabinho will have to be touch tight to the midfielder throughout the game.
