The Reds are always looking to build for the future. Liverpool have shown their enthusiasm for youth prospects over the summer. Jürgen Klopp’s side recruited Sepp van den Berg from Dutch side PEC Zwolle and Harvey Elliott from Fulham. Both signings were record breakers in their own right, the Reds are now widely reported to be chasing another record breaking youngster. According to the Express, Liverpool could sign Ben Chrisene from Exeter City.
Liverpool signed Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle for an initial £1.3m. Whilst playing in the Netherlands, the towering Dutch defender became the youngest ever player to reach 10 Eredivisie appearances, beating Clarence Seedorf’s record – he was also named in the division’s team of the week aged just 16. Harvey Elliott arrived from Fulham as the youngest every debutant in the Premier League. Ben Chrisene became Exeter City’s youngest ever player in August when he came on as a substitute in the Carabao cup aged 15 years, seven months and one day old.
According to a report in The Express, Liverpool have invited the 15 year old to turn out for their youth team in order to get a better look at him. The article also asserts that Chelsea are in the race for the starlet. Speaking after Chrisene’s record breaking debut, Exeter City boss Matt Taylor, as reported by the BBC, said “He’s going to play at the top level, it’s as simple as that.”
These are encouraging reports for Kopites. The Reds are in the process of building a dynasty at the minute as they look to capitalise on their Champions League win in June. By signing the hottest prospects in the country, they are positioning themselves well for the future. Fingers cross, Liverpool will sign Ben Chrisene and we will see him line up alongside Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg in the future.
