Liverpool are vulnerable at the back according to Sky pundit Charlie Nicholas.
The Ex-Arsenal man spoke about the club’s title chances during the international break. And Nicholas says the title race is far from over and has highlighted one key Liverpool weakness for the reason why.
Speaking to Sporting Life, he said, “I don’t think the title race is over. Liverpool have a vulnerability at the back that wasn’t evident last season.
“They stumbled against Leicester and Sheffield United. That luck balances out over the course of a season.”
With 30 games left to play, not even the most optimistic Liverpool fan truly believes the league is already won. So Nicholas is right to say that. However, claims of a defensive vulnerability in Jurgen Klopp’s side are way off.
Liverpool boasted the league’s best defensive record last year and have carried on that form. During the first eight Premier Leagues matches the Reds have conceded just six goals, the lowest in the division.
Any claims of a vulnerability at the back are totally unfounded. Liverpool have the best centre-back pairing in the league with Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip.
The Reds have no vulnerability in defence and will continue to prove the likes of Nicholas wrong.
