The Reds only just missed out on the Premier League last season. They fell just 1 point short of eventual champions Manchester City. Liverpool lost just once all season and accumulated 97 points but it somehow was not enough. Jürgen Klopp’s side did, however, lift a 6th European Cup in Madrid. The Reds have started the season in invincible form, winning all 7 of their league games so far this season. Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s first European home game since their historic comeback against Barcelona in May, Sadio Mane issued a bold warning to their competitors.

Golden boot holder Mane was present at Liverpool’s pre-match press conference ahead of the visit of Red Bull Salzburg, the presser was broadcast live on the club’s official site. When asked whether the Premier League or the Champions League is Liverpool’s priority for the season, Sadio told the gathered media “I’d say both is our target, we have nothing to lose, we will fight for both”. This is a bold warning from the Senegalese winger. Liverpool are arguably the most fearsome team in the world to face at the moment, to hear they won’t allow any team reprieve will frighten opposition.
“We are better this season than last for sure,” Mane continued. Liverpool only just fell short of an historic double last season, if the Reds have improved as Sadio said then Klopp’s side may have just enough to get over the line in both competitions.
To win both competitions would cement this Liverpool side’s place in Anfield folklore and surely be the start of a dynasty. The Reds are on the precipice of something special, just ask Sadio.
