Liverpool breezed past MK Dons in the League Cup last night. The Reds were in charge throughout the game as they beat the hosts 2-0 at Stadium MK. Jürgen Klopp gave debuts to a number of youth players, including Rhian Brewster and Harvey Elliott – two players that Kopites everywhere have been itching to get a glimpse of. Harvey Elliott had an absolute stormer of a debut; he was energetic, enthusiastic and displayed quick feet and an eye for a pass as well as hitting the crossbar on two occasions.

The summer signing from Fulham became Liverpool’s youngest ever starter aged just 16 years and 174 days old. He put in a performance well beyond his young years as he provided a creative spark in the final third for the Reds. On one occasion he was unlucky not to have bagged an assist after a deft first touch took the ball around his marker before he stepped inside and whipped in an inch perfect cross for James Milner, unfortunately the experienced international (over twice Elliott’s age) could only head wide.
He proved himself to have a knack for popping up in goalscoring positions, in the first half he popped up in the right place to turn home a James Milner cross but the ball was too fast to control and he could only turn the ball onto the crossbar from just 6 yards out.
Twitter has reacted to the young gun’s stellar debut.
These Reds feels that Elliott showcased all the abilities of a future world class talent.
Supporters are struggling to contain their excitement about the the prodigy.
Other fans were in disbelief over the youngster’s age.
And of course, someone had to compare his night to Eden Hazard’s.
