Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson put in a tremendous display as he rebounded from the criticism he faced in the midweek.

The 25-year-old full-back deactivated his Twitter account after receiving flack from fans for conceding a penalty against Napoli during Tuesday’s Champions League tie.

Any stick he faced was ridiculous. First of all, the Napoli player dived to win the penalty, secondly the left-back has been consistently world-class in a Liverpool shirt.

Robertson silenced his critics and rejoined Twitter after a brilliant display at Chelsea.

The left-back played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s win as he whipped in a delightful cross for Roberto Firmino to head home what proved to be the winning goal.

During the second half Liverpool came under lots of pressure from the hosts and Robertson, along with the rest of the back four, stood firm to earn a vital three points.

Since August 2018 Robertson has been a consistent provider for his Liverpool teammates with 13 assists from the left-back position. A return only bettered in the Premier League by Reds right-back Trent Alexander Arnold who has 14 assists.

At the start of this season the Reds have continued an impressive defensive record with only five goals conceded so far in the Premier League; a feat only matched by Brendan Rodger’s Leicester side.

Liverpool are lucky to have have Robertson: a true gem who is talented in both attack and defence.

The Scotland international will continue to silences the doubters with his continued good performances throughout the season.
