Jürgen Klopp has given his pre match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s game against Chelsea on Sunday. The German manager has provided an encouraging Liverpool injury update. Naby Keita has been missing since picking up a muscle strain before Liverpool’s Super Cup victory over Chelsea back in August. Based on Klopp’s comments to the media ahead of Sunday’s clash, as available on Liverpool’s YouTube channel, the Guinean midfielder could be set for a comeback this weekend. The attack minded midfielder was a club record signing when Liverpool agreed a £48m fee with RB Leipzig in 2017.

Jürgen told the gathered press: “Naby Keita is back in training with the team,” whilst this is incredibly encouraging for Reds fans, the gaffer did add “today is his first time with the team”. Starting the game this weekend may well be beyond our expectations of Keita but he could make a second half appearance.
Kopites will be anxious to see the player back in the side. He offers a quality that none of Liverpool’s other midfielders can bring to the side. The former Leipzig man can provide the spark that the Reds have been missing in the middle of the park this season.
Keita has a penchant for driving at defences from deep, ghosting past opposition players on the way. With teams more alive to the attacking threat Liverpool pose, we are having to work harder to break teams down as they set up to not concede. Chelsea is never an easy place to go, we can expect Frank Lampard to take a pragmatic approach this weekend, the Blues will likely defend deep with the two wing backs providing defensive width to a packed 3 man central defence. Naby Keita getting on the pitch could be what Jürgen Klopp needs to find a way through this congested defensive unit.
