Liverpool legend John Aldridge has heaped praise on Reds boss Jürgen Klopp. Speaking in his Liverpool Echo column, published 18th of September 2019, he addressed the speculation surrounding the German manager’s future at Anfield. There has been much talk about the gaffer’s contract in recent weeks. Jürgen’s agent confused matters when he joked that the manager would be leaving at the end of his contract because he doesn’t like the English weather. With Klopp’s contract set to expire in 2022 and no talk of a new deal, Kopites need to resign themselves to losing our talismanic head coach in a couple of years.
Aldridge believes that the former Borussia Dortmund coach has done a stellar job at Liverpool. He said in his article, “when he does go, he’ll leave us in a really good situation and a better state than he found us in when he arrived”. This sentiment is echoed by a lot of supporters on Merseyside. When Klopp arrived, Liverpool had Mario Balotelli in the squad. Now, the Reds boast the deadliest front 3 on the planet. He has made us intimidating again, he has made Anfield a fortress again, for the first time in decades, we feel we can beat any side we come up against in Europe.
The former player is enamoured with how the gaffer has turned the club around in such a relatively short period of time. He continued, “I can speak on behalf of a lot of the ex-players when I say that we love Jürgen Klopp”. This adulatio is no doubt down to the fact he has brought Liverpool back to an atmosphere we knew in the 80s, as Aldridge noted “he really seems to get the Liverpool way”.
