Pundit's praise shows how far Brazilian star has come under Klopp

Monday Night Football on Sky Sports is always a treat, especially for Liverpool fans at the moment. Somehow, the conversation always circles round to praising Liverpool and their squad.

The Red receiving the plaudits this week was Fabinho. Gary Neville was analysing Declan Rice on the 16th of September 2019 when he took the opportunity to compare him to Liverpool’s lanky Brazilian.

The former Manchester United full back said “Fabinho at the moment is the best [midfield enforcer]”. Liverpool signed the midfielder from AS Monaco in the summer of 2018 when Michael Edwards and co agreed an initial fee of £39m. The move came out of nowhere, Liverpool fans were excited but cautious.

It took a few months for the long legged deep midfielder  to cement his place in Jürgen Klopp’s first team. He has now asserted himself as undroppable. Gary Neville follows his partner in punditry, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, in singing the praises of the Reds’ midfielder.

The Mancunian commentator told Sky Sports that it is the positivity in Fabinho’s play that sets him apart from other defensive midfielders, Neville said: “He steps up the pitch and wins the ball and most importantly he doesn’t just pass it sideways..he plays vertically”.

Liverpool have been reaping the rewards of Fabinho’s eye for a through ball. Against Arsenal he hit a first time pass on the turn that sicced Mo Salah on the helpless David Luiz. Last season he clipped a ball over the top for Sadio Mane to slot past Man United.

We currently have the best holding player in the Premier League, one of the best in the world, he is only getting better and we should just relish in watching him each week.
