Over the years it has been a fixture that has provided plenty of thrills, spills and dramatic late goals – Liverpool v Newcastle United. We will never forget Divock Origi’s last-minute headed winner at St. James’ park last season.
Despite Newcastle’s steady decline in recent years and their bizarre decision to replace Rafael Benitez with Steve Bruce, this is the cliche ‘potential banana skin’ for Liverpool. We take a look at three Newcastle players that could cause the Reds trouble over the 90 minutes this weekend.
Joelinton

The Brazilian striker signed for Newcastle over the summer as the Magpies smashed their club record, paying Hoffenheim £40m for his services. He has managed just 1 goal in his first 4 games for Newcastle and if anything this terrifies me. I don’t trust it. At 23, he could still be adjusting to life in the Premier League. The last thing Liverpool want is a star turn performance from the striker.
Fabian Schar

The Swiss international defender is likely to line up alongside two other centre-backs. He is an incredibly intelligent defender that can pick apart attacks with his anticipation. His main impact could be on the counter attack, he likes to get his head up and ping a long ball, with Liverpool expected to dominate possession, a long ball to launch a counter could be deadly.
Martin Dubravka

Hailed buy Chronicle Live as one of Newcastle’s best ever signings. The Slovakian shot stopper loves big games, as he demonstrated on his debut against Manchester United. Comfortable with the ball at his feet and able to pull off reflex saves, if he steps up he could be the difference.
