3 key Newcastle players were away on international duty: Martin Dubravka, Fabian Schar and Miguel Almiron. With some early cobwebs to shake off, Liverpool will be looking to take advantage. One of the bonuses of Jürgen Klopp’s intense style of play is that Liverpool players have built up immense fitness levels and will be right at it from the off. A quick start from the Anfield side could end the game early.

An inevitability whenever Liverpool face Steve Bruce. The Newcastle manager played 414 times for Manchester United. Due to his unfortunate past, Kopites are obliged to taunt the 58 year old gaffer. Expect to hear choruses of “Steve Bruce – he’s got a big fat head, a big fat head”.
