It is the most controversial topic in football at the moment: VAR. Kopites should love VAR for two reasons. Firstly, it benefits us; secondly, it keeps breaking Manchester City hearts.

As we all know, the only way to keep the Liverbird hydrated is with Mancunian tears. Everybody knows that. Here’s why VAR will win Liverpool the league:

VAR will only threaten Liverpool when we need just one goal. That is very rarely the case these days. Since April, the Anfield outfit have won every Premier League game bar two by at least two goals. We aren’t leaving things to fine margins. When Liverpool do need just one goal and teams are dug in deep – we have our full-backs.

Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold have the best wing-back delivery in Europe at the moment. When teams are sitting deep against us, we can have faith in our delivery from wide areas – forwards won’t have to seek an extra yard and stray offside in the process – Trent and Robbo will be able to pick them out of the crowd no matter where they are.

VAR in the Premier League is going to benefit Jürgen Klopp’s men. According to a 2018 study, the Reds are the unluckiest team in the Prem when it comes to bad decisions. In 17/18 we dropped 12 points to bad decisions. Imagine if VAR had been around last season – would Kompany have been sent off in the title deciding game at the Etihad? Liverpool don’t have to worry about VAR, it will win us the league.
