Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig’s incredibly fast forward Timo Werner as Borussia Dortmund are not looking to sign the German.
Earlier this week, Sport Bild reported that Liverpool are the strongest competitors to rival Bayern Munich to sign Werner, with Werner supposedly holding an interest in the 22-year-old.
Werner’s contract with RB Leipzig expires in July 2020 and with the striker having no clear intention of signing a new deal with the Bundesliga outfit, the vultures are circling looking to pick him up for his rumoured bargain price tag of £36million.
Now, however, if another German news outlet is to be believed instead of Sport Bild, the Reds (and Bayern Munich admittedly) have received a big boost in the race to sign Werner as Borussia Dortmund are not looking to sign prolific forward.
German football magazine Kicker claims that despite their need to replace Chelsea-bound Christian Pulisic, Borussia Dortmund are not interested in signing Timo Werner which is a major boost for Liverpool.
That leaves Bayern. You would imagine, with Timo Werner being a German international and having spent his entire career thus far in the Bundesliga that Niko Kovač’s side would be favourites.
Liverpool fans will be hoping the draw of playing with potential Premier League champions led by the enigmatic Jurgen Klopp will lure Werner to Merseyside where he could help form a devastating attacking quarter alongside Mané, Firmino and Salah.
