Liverpool are set to go toe-to-toe with Bayern Munich this summer to sign young German forward Timo Werner from RB Leipzig as he looks to leave after three seasons.
The Reds are top of the Premier League table and own the most prolific striker since the start of the 2017/18 season in Mohamed Salah and are still trying to add more goals and pace to their front line.
A week ago, the London Evening Standard reported on what Jurgen Klopp’s likely plans for the summer are and with a number of departures being touted, David Lynch claims that the Germain will sign a new no.9 and a new no.10 to further refine his attack.
Timo Werner was mentioned as a possible target and nothing more but ever since there has been an outpouring of German sources – most notably Bild– linking the Reds with a summer move for €65million-rated Timo Werner.
Now, Sport Bild claim that Liverpool will rival Bayern Munich for the 22-year-old’s signature at the end of the season.
Borussia Dortmund are also said to hold an interest in Werner but the race to sign the German national team forward will be between Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
Winning the Premier League this season could prove beneficial for Liverpool in the way it has for clubs in the past as it opens the door to signing some of the most exciting talent on the planet and this summer might be one of the best in the club’s history.
