Ragnar Klavan may well prove to be influential in Liverpool’s interest in Nicolo Barella as his transfer to Cagliari has forged a healthy relationship with the Serie A outfit.
The Estonian centre back joined Cagliari in the summer for £2million as he looked to leave Liverpool to play more football as his football career slowly comes to an end.
The Reds didn’t need to sell him as he provided more depth in defence but the club granted his request to leave and this gesture has helped forge a healthy relationship with Cagliari and reports claim it might come in handy next summer.
Highly rated young midfielder Nicolo Barella is on Liverpool’s radar and Klavan’s move could set the foundations for the 21-year-old to move to Merseyside next summer, with Tuttosport claiming the Reds are in pole position to land him.
Barella has admitted that he wants to move to the Premier League in the future and his desire to meet Lebron James might help Liverpool lure him to Anfield.
He said: “If I had to choose between Serie A and the Premier League, I’d go for England because I like the way they approach the game. Plus everyone there is just as irritable and prone to fouls as me!
“My dream is to get a nice house with a garden and a pool and to meet LeBron James.”
