Brighton and Hove Albion are said to be eyeing up a loan deal for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez for their maiden Premier League season.

According to the Mirror, Bright and Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton could be about to offer Joe Gomez a chance at regular first team playing time by taking him on loan for the 2017/18 season.

The 20-year old is in desperate need of game time having spent much of the last 18 months struggling for fitness following a run of bad injury luck.

Gomez, who can play at centre back and in both full back positions, returned in January last season to first team action but was limited to just a handful of appearances in Liverpool’s woeful FA Cup efforts that saw them knocked out by Wolverhampton in an embarrassing 2-1 loss at Anfield.

Prior reports had claimed that Klopp is still willing to give Gomez a chance to prove himself in pre-season before any final decision on a move is made and the Huddersfield Daily Examiner reiterate that this will indeed be the case.

However, with Liverpool still looking to sign another centre back while already boasting Matip, Lovren and Klavan in their defensive ranks, Gomez would likely find his first team opportunities few and far between if he remains on Merseyside this season.

What do you think, should Gomez be allowed to go out on loan and be granted a chance at regular first team football?
