Liverpool FC centre back Joël Matip has picked his ultimate LFC five-a-side team out of all his current team mates.
Joël Matip has picked his ultimate five-a-side team using only his current LFC team mates.
The defender was asked to pick his four preferred team mates to play alongside when captaining a five-a-side team in training and straight away opted for his central defensive partner Dejan Lovren because “defence always wins these small games.”
Matip then opted for a fairly straight-forward pick in Philippe Coutinho for an equally straight-forward reason: “it’s better to play with him than against him!”
However, Matip then opted for two slightly surprising picks, snubbing the seemingly more skilful players in Liverpool’s squad such as Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane in favour of a “good midfielder,” and a player to “connect us and play good passes out to the front and from the back.”
Guessed who they are yet? None other than club captain Jordan Henderson and Dutch wizard Gini Wijnaldum!
